Hardship Licenses

A hardship license is a special driver’s license that allows the holder to drive for certain, necessary reasons. This is issued either as a business hardship license (for use to drive to and from work, school, the doctor, and to buy groceries) or as an employment hardship license (for exclusive use in driving to and from work and for work-related tasks.)

Hardship License Qualifications in Florida

There are several qualifying factors that will determine your eligibility for a hardship license. You may be eligible to apply for a hardship license if:

• After a 2nd DUI conviction, you wait a period of one year
• After a 3rd DUI conviction, you wait a period of two years
• You finish Multiple Offender School requirements
• You have stayed alcohol and drug-free
• Any other requirements by the court: such as proof that you finished all classes, counseling, etc.
